Transition of Funding for Behavioral health Treatment/ABA Services

Post

There is a change in the services that Medi-Cal will fund for those under 21 years of age with a diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Starting in February 2016, over a 6 month period, children with an ASD diagnosis with a  Medi-Cal managed care plan will be switching from RCEB funding to Medi-Cal funding of Behavioral Health Treatment services, including ABA and Social Skills Groups. The month a client switches will depend on their birth date. The Alameda County Medi-Cal managed care plans are the Alameda Alliance for Health and Anthem Blue Cross Partnership Plan. The Contra Costa County Medi-Cal managed care plans are the Contra Costa Health Plan and Anthem Blue Cross Partnership Plan. The attached update provides more details including the transition timeline.

Please contact your family member’s case manager with any questions you may have about this change. Those involved in this transition will be receiving calls from their Medi-Cal managed care plan to discuss the changes. We are committed to working with our consumers, families, ABA providers, and Medi-Cal Managed Care plans to make this a smooth transition.
